Centre Merger Paper 17 July 2023
This document will assist a Centre that can no longer operate and is facing ‘hibernation’.
When a Centre is unable to form a Committee in order to continue, it must contact its Division/Region at the earliest opportunity.
If the Division/Region is unable to resolve the issue locally, then it will liaise with the Governance Office.
The Governance Office will arrange for an email communication to go out to all registered members of the Centre explaining the situation and asking for volunteers to come forward to keep the Centre going.
If no one comes forward to run the Centre, then the Governance Office will liaise with another neighbouring Centre1 about a merger, keeping the Division/Region and the Executive Committee appraised of the situation.
Once a neighbouring Centre has been identified, both Centres will merge and operate as usual until the next AGM. At the upcoming AGM, there will be an opportunity for all members of both Centres to put themselves forward for a position on the Committee.
The newly-merged Centre will be created and given a name by the Executive Committee in accordance with the Club Bye-laws (36.4).
Centre funds and equipment will be amalgamated. There is no requirement to close both bank accounts as one can be renamed and new signatories arranged.
Any historical items associated with the Centres can be kept by the newly-formedCentre.
